Course Overview: Holding the Line: Compassionate Leadership & Professional Boundaries In today’s hybrid, fast-paced workplaces, leaders are expected to be supportive, approachable, and emotionally intelligent, while also upholding clear and ethical professional boundaries. This course helps you walk that line with clarity and confidence. Designed for line managers, academics, directors, and anyone in a position of authority, this self-paced course explores how to create psychologically safe environments without crossing into over-familiarity, blurred roles, or emotional overreach. Through real-world scenarios, interactive tools, and scripts, you’ll build the practical skills to: - Lead with empathy without becoming enmeshed - Spot and navigate “grey zone” boundary issues - Understand how culture, gender, faith, and sector norms shape expectations - Set clear, compassionate boundaries with your team - Respond safely to emotional disclosures and support requests - Role-model professional integrity that builds trust and psychological safety Whether you're navigating team dynamics, mentoring staff, managing disclosures, or simply wanting to be a more boundaried, confident leader, this course equips you with the language, mindset, and tools to do it well. Whilst working through this course, you can talk through your thoughts in the Community of Practice (as more people join courses, this will become more helpful - so keep popping back in to find more members), record your thoughts in your RE:THINK Journal, and use this as a prompt in your 1:1 personal development with your line manager.
