Meet George (her/she)

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Practitioner, Neuroscience Coach, and Behavioural Change Consultant

George Brown is a TEDx speaker, senior inclusion strategist, and the creator of the BARDO Neuro-Inclusive Maturity Model (NIMM), a pioneering, neuroscience-informed framework that helps organisations move beyond traditional ED&I into deep, sustainable culture change.

With over 28 years of experience across sectors, George has led systemic behavioural transformation for institutions ranging from the British Army and Home Office to 25 universities across the UK, as well as organisations in Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa, and global corporations, sports, and retail companies.

She’s conducted a Human Rights audit of the UK’s detention estate for the Home Office, driven inclusive recruitment and leadership change in the Armed Forces, and worked side-by-side with universities on equality charters and institutional strategies, guiding each one through bespoke, evidence-based pathways to change. As Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at the University of Bath and an inclusive leadership coach for NHS Trusts, George understands the intersection of policy, psychology, and leadership firsthand.

But BARDO and NIMM were born not just from her professional life, but from something much deeper.

After losing both parents in her 40s and being told she was infertile, her body was shocked into early menopause. George began a personal journey to understand the biology of grief, trauma, and identity.

Her lived experience of ADHD, complex grief, dyslexia, OCD, and depression became an unexpected gift: it brought her face-to-face with the brain’s raw plasticity, its power to adapt, rewire, and survive. She immersed herself in applied neuroscience and behavioural science, and what started as a deeply personal search for meaning evolved into a professional revolution.

From that intersection of science, humanity, and strategy, the NIMM was born.

Today, George helps leaders understand that change isn’t about willpower or awareness alone. It’s about how the brain works under stress, in power, and within systems. Through BARDO Inclusive, she brings this insight to life by offering:

  • Inclusive leadership development rooted in brain biology

  • Strategic audits and inclusion roadmaps grounded in cognitive science

  • The NIMM: a tiered, membership-based maturity model that supports long-term change across leadership and employee levels

  • Consultancy and coaching that blends lived experience with academic insight

George’s approach is trusted, transformative, and future-focused. She doesn’t just ask, “How can we be more inclusive?” She asks, “What makes the brain want to change?” And she answers it—scientifically, strategically, and compassionately.

If you’re ready to move from surface-level awareness to embedded, measurable inclusion, George and the NIMM are your next step.

If your institution is ready to move from intention to implementation, and from awareness to action, George and the NIMM provide the strategy and structure to lead that shift.
